Ohio Peace Officer Basic Training
For individuals seeking employment in the law enforcement field, this is the starting block:
the Basic Police Academy.
This course consists of 600 hours of required training and approximately 40 hours of additional training. Students who successfully complete the course will receive their Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission Basic Certifications.
In addition, students receive additional training and/or certifications in the following areas:
• Interview & Interrogation
• Drug Interdiction
• Computers in Law Enforcement - Forensics Crime
• Gangs/Cults
• Hazardous Materials Awareness/Incident Command System
• Homeland Security
Students seeking admission must complete an application for acceptance. Students must also successfully complete career testing and a physical agility exam. Once these are complete, the student will be
called for an interview with the Academy Commander. After the interview, students will be notified of their acceptance or denial.
New Class for 2008: Sept. 2,2008- March 23, 2009
Hours: 6 pm - 10 pm Monday - Friday with occasional Saturdays
